Quiet praise,
quietly earned.
Every review here is from a real owner of a real Olea & Hound portrait. We don't pay for them. We don't filter the unflattering ones. Below, the good, the honest, and the occasionally tearful.
"The digital file landed in my inbox before I'd finished checking out. I had Hugo as my phone wallpaper by the time I'd put my card away."
"My Bran is a Patterdale-collie cross with one ear that won't stand up. The Storybook one got the ear right. That's the test."
"Memorial portrait of our cat Marlow. I have her on my lock screen every morning. Thank you for being gentle about it."
"Bought it as a surprise for my husband. Bailey is his shadow. He’s set it as his phone wallpaper, his laptop wallpaper, and printed three copies."
"I framed Pelle in a Moebe oak frame, A3, white wall, north light. The portrait is the only colour in the room. Exactly what I wanted."
"Saffron came to us at twelve and gave us four good years. The Watercolour is on the wall above her old chair. The chair stays."
"Three friends in three weeks asked where my phone wallpaper was from. I refuse to call it an AI portrait, it’s a painting now."
"Ash was my mother’s guide dog before he was ours. He retired with her, then with me. The Memorial portrait sits where he used to wait for the door. Salaam, Ash."
"Memorial portrait of our labrador Bran. I waited two years to find something that didn’t feel cheap. This was it. Digital file on every device, printed copy in the hallway."
"Mooncake came with the apartment, basically. The Oil Painting is in the hallway. He hates it. We love it."
"Bruno came from a shelter in Cagliari with three names and no birthday. The Watercolour gave him back his face. I’d lost it under all the trauma photos."
"Loulou est sur la cheminée, en face de la table. Royal Portrait, parce que c’est elle qui décide qui s’assoit où."

The complaints
we've actually had.
We don't hide negative reviews. Here are the recurring criticisms, and what we've done about them.
"The first preview didn't capture my pet."+
It happens, particularly with very dark or very white pets, where photographic detail can wash out. In 2025 we added an automatic likeness check that re-renders previews that don't pass. We re-generate at no cost; you simply see better previews. If the printed final portrait still doesn't recognise your pet, we refund 100%, see our policy.
"Wish I could see the portrait in my actual frame at home."+
We're working on a "see it on your wall" AR preview for late 2026. For now, the print-quality file we deliver is sized for A2; printed at A3 it sits at roughly 30×40cm overall, a good benchmark for above-sofa or hallway placement.
"The Oil Painting wasn't quite the palette I expected."+
Oil Painting uses a warm, Old-Master palette anchored on your pet's natural colouring, so two pets in the same style can read very differently. If you don't love the palette, pick another of the six; you see all six previews before buying anything.
"I expected a postcard JPEG. The file is enormous."+
Yes. Every order delivers a 4096×4096 print-quality file that holds up at A2. Some customers tell us the file size caught them off guard, in a good way. If your inbox struggles, the email also links to a download URL valid for 30 days.
